Summer BBQ

I hope you’re hungry! Get ready to feast your eyes on the yummy new food I ate this week.

Friday started off with cleaning the apartment because a friend was coming over later that day. After that, I picked up a package, mailed a letter, and bought some snacks at a corner store. I watched Ru Paul’s Drag Race before meeting up with my friend to go to dinner. We went to Tulip, which is a restaurant in the Hilton hotel in downtown Ottawa. For the drink, I ordered the Dolce Vita (Bombay gin, cucumber juice, lime, mint, and tonic). The soup of the day was butternut squash with pesto, and I had the “Basa” main dish. It was squid ink beer battered fish, fried baby potatoes, bacon chive cheese, capers, and balsamic mango puree. For dessert, I ordered a crème brûlée. The meal was so good and beautiful to see in person. They change their menu periodically, and I recommend taking a look at their Instagram page. Leaving the restaurant, I found a squirrel chasing a bird, or the other way around, just outside a parking entrance.

Saturday I tried to do a workout, but my muscles were still too sore. After cam, I was craving a burger for supper. I searched around and found a perfect spot I’ve never eaten at before called The Works. They have a massive menu of burgers and one can even be paid for with Canadian Tire money! They also give their water in a large measuring cup, because, why not. I ordered the War Pig burger which had sauteed mushrooms, BBQ sauce, cheddar, and maple bacon. I got back home just in time to watch UFC. It wasn’t the best line-up of fights, but the main event ended in just the first minute!

Sunday I still couldn’t get enough of BBQ, so I went over to RibFest on Sparks Street to grab a pulled-pork sandwich at Billy Bones. They definitely were not stingy. It was huge! I thought I would kill 2 birds with 1 stone and eat my lunch at Confederation Park. That was where JazzFest was happening with free concerts happening throughout the day by youth jazz bands. Although I wasn’t specifically in a jazz band, it brought back memories of performing in front of a crowd when I was in a wind ensemble in high school. I was the first flute for 3 years! It was so relaxing to eat in the park while listening to beautiful music.

Monday I put together a raffle for July. Last year, I was at a nude beach in Vancouver and took polaroids there for a raffle. This year, I took more polaroids at the nude beach near Montreal where I recently did a photoshoot!

Tuesday was forecasted to rain the whole day. I saw a few puddles when I got up in the morning, but it turned out not spilling a single drop the rest of the day. It was a beautiful day with clouds rolling by and the sun peeking out to heat up the day to 27 degrees Celsius. I love spending time on my balcony on days like this. Ariel got to working on the photos we took last Wednesday and posted some teasers on Instagram!

Wednesday had another surprise weather change. It was forecasted to be thunderstorms, but it turned out to be another perfectly sunny day. I ran errands which included checking my PO Box and got a couple of packages. One was Whiskey’s new collar! I had a little picnic on my balcony while basking in the sun eating Subway.

*Schedule Update* I am changing my schedule a bit this week for cam. Since Canada Day is on a Monday this year and I would normally be working, I am switching my day off. I will be online Friday night (28th) 8pm-2am eastern time, and Monday (1st) I will not be online. We will be doing our own Canada Day celebration on July 2nd online on ManyVids Live.

Thanks for reading!

xoxo Lacey
