Up, Up and Away

August 30 – September 5, 2019

I bought tickets to go to the hot air balloon festival in Gatineau that was on for the Labour Day long weekend. In French, it’s called “Festival de Montgolfières” or FMG for short. I was really excited to go see it! I’ve heard of it for the past few years but was either uninformed or not in the area. See all the different balloons up close in this link. My favourite was the “My Deerling” balloon. Friday night was a Nickelback concert! The stage was outside, and there were hundreds of people standing and sitting. I walked around the park to see what they had for rides and food trucks. I love amusement ride lights at night!

Saturday was a big day! My morning began with brunch at Edgar. I had a latte and Dutch Baby (pastry bowl, apples, pork belly, aged cheddar, and maple syrup). I was at the festival for most of the day. I saw the classic + modified car show, a skydiving/parachute demonstration, a graffiti contest, a reptile zoo and wandered around the park. I also got a typical fair item…the long Slush Puppie cup! That night for supper, I went to a terrace beside the Rideau falls called Tavern on the Falls. I arrived right at sunset, and it was GORGEOUS! I ordered the Backyard Dawg (BBQ pulled pork, coleslaw, and bacon) and the US of A Dawg (lettuce, 9000 island sauce, pickles, shallots, and cheddar). I then rushed back over to the festival to Les Trois Accords perform. They are a Quebec group that sings French songs. I listened to their songs back when I was trying to learn French, so I knew a handful of what they were playing. Immediately after, there were fireworks timed to Queen’s hit songs.

Sunday afternoon I had my first time eating at a Popeyes! Right off the bat, I got a bad first impression…they were out of ALL fries and ALL chicken tenders, which is what I came in wanting to order. Instead, I went with a chicken burger with coleslaw on the side. I liked it, but in my opinion, I prefer KFC chicken burgers. I’m open to go back and try again because I’ve heard so many good things about Popeyes. What do you think about Popeyes? Comment below!

Monday I was on a mission to fix my computer issues. I had updated Windows on Thursday night and after posting my blog on Friday afternoon, my wifi drive stopped working. I couldn’t find any routers around me at all. It took me hours of troubleshooting and I FINALLY got it to work. I literally jumped for joy! For supper, I had steak, potatoes, and corn on the cob.

Tuesday I ran errands including picking up PO box goodies. I got a flute book and a see-through/mesh t-shirt.

Wednesday I was working in the afternoon and started writing the blog. I finally emptied the lube bottle! On to the next Costco size! This time I wrote the date on the bottom of the bottle so I don’t forget when I opened it.

Thursday I went out for a run in the beautiful weather. It’s been cooling down here in Ottawa as we slide into autumn. This week we’ve been having a high of around 20 degrees Celcius and lows going down to about 10 at night.
